Monica Viegas Andrade是米纳斯吉拉斯联邦大学经济学系教授，自1995年以来加入该校。Monica Viegas从事应用微观经济学，研究方向是健康经济学、社会项目评估和经济评估。她拥有里约热内卢Getulio Vargas基金会研究生院的经济学博士学位（1996年至2000年）。2015-2016年，任哈佛大学公共卫生学院全球卫生与人口部的Takemi研究员。Monica Viegas于2003年至2008年担任经济学研究生院院长，2016-2018年担任米纳斯吉拉斯联邦大学发展与区域研究中心主任。2008年，Monica成立了健康经济学和犯罪学研究小组——GEESC-CEDEPLAR/UFMG。GEESC举办各种各样的活动，包括每月的学术研讨会和广泛的项目，主要研究领域是卫生公平、卫生技术评估、社会计划评估和医疗保健系统，这些领域的论文已在国际知名期刊发表。她指导了25篇硕士论文和10篇博士论文。2023年，Monica获得了CONFAP（国家研究机构委员会）人类科学杰出研究员奖（第二名）。同时，她也是巴西国家研究委员会（CNPQ）1D研究员和巴西国家研究理事会委员会（经济学）成员。

Monica Viegas Andrade is a full professor at the Economics Department of Federal University of Minas Gerais, where she is a faculty member since 1995. Monica Viegas works with applied microeconomics, specifically with health economics, evaluation of social programs, and economic evaluation. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from Graduate School of Getulio Vargas Foundation (1996 to 2000), Rio de Janeiro. She spent a sabbatical year at Pompeu Fabra University in 2008/2009, at the Center for Health Economics and was Takemi Fellow at Global Health and Population Department of Harvard School of Public Health in 2015-2016. Monica Viegas was the Dean of the Graduate Program of Economics from 2003 to 2008 and the Director of the Center for Development and Regional Studies of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2016-2018. In 2008, Monica founded the Group of Studies in Health Economics and Criminality – Grupo de Estudos em Economia da Saúde e Criminalidade- GEEESC CEDEPLAR / UFMG - http://web.cedeplar.ufmg.br/cedeplar/grupos/geesc/. The GEESC has various activities, including monthly academic seminars and a broad spectrum of projects. The main research areas developed under her coordination are Equity in Health, Health Technology Assessment, Evaluation of Social Programs and Healthcare Systems, which resulted in papers published in national and international journals. She supervised 25 Master Dissertation and 10 Ph.D. Dissertation. In 2023 Monica won the CONFAP (National Council of Research Agencies) prize of distinguished researcher in Human Science (second place). She is Researcher 1D of the National Council of Research (CNPQ) in Brazil and Member of the Committee (Economics) of the National Council of Research in Brazil.
