摘要：This paper examines the comparative statics of competition games within net- works. We introduce a sign function, determined by competitors’ relative positions along the shock propagation path, that fully characterizes a non-monotone yet predictable pattern of shock diffusion in acyclic networks. The study underscores intricate strategic relationships, informing friend-foe identification within complex competitive structures. Well-intentioned local policy interventions—such as resolving or limiting competition or breaking up the network—may inadvertently intensify broader competitive tensions. Departing from traditional approaches that rely on closed-form equilibrium solutions, our paper illustrates a new non-monotone comparative static analysis method in games.

周俊杰，清华大学经济管理学院教授。现研究领域包括社会和经济网络、产业组织理论。成果已在Review of Economic Studies、RAND、JET、AEJ-Micro、EJ、IER、OR、M&SOM和POM等经济学与运筹学领域期刊发表。目前担任RAND、JIndE、IJIO副主编。
